PRESS RELEASE

Launch of 2020 retreats coincides with company expansion and new accolades

After 10 years of offering premier women’s trail running and wellness retreats around the world, Run Wild Retreats + Wellness has emerged as an industry leader in transformational travel experiences for runners, thanks to rapid growth and new industry accolades.

Run Wild Retreats + Wellness is proud to have won a SHAPE magazine’s 2019 Healthy Travel Award in the category of “Best Activity Outfitters” for its commitment to high-quality retreats for women including itinerary design, carefully selected running routes, high-quality accommodations and meals as well as fun, personable and highly skilled guides and retreat leaders.

The award, announced this week, coincides with the company’s release of its 2020 retreat roster. The new schedule of retreats includes its most popular annual retreats in places like Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Colorado and Utah, with new destinations to be announced later this year. Runners can download the 2020 retreat catalog here.

“The 40% growth we experienced over the past year validated what I knew to be true: women want a running and travel experience that is as much about the inner journey as it is about the external adventure,” says company founder, Elinor Fish. “And that’s what makes our retreats distinct from a running tour or training camp. We place as much emphasis on self-care and meaningful connection as we do on spectacular trail runs.”

Bolstering Run Wild Retreats’ growth is a team of professionals who share Fish’s passion for mindful running, travel and all that goes into them. Recent new hires include:

  • Megan VanZandt, MBA, Operations Coordinator
Megan, who lives in Carbondale, Colorado, brings to the retreat operations department her impressive wellness-industry business savvy along with her zest for adventure, such as four years spent living with her husband in Ecuador, where her son was born.
  • Charlotte Roennau, MSc., Retreat Leader
Charlotte, a Danish ex-pat who now lives in Aspen, Colorado, was once known as Denmark’s fastest woman. Since hanging up her track spikes, Charlotte leads retreats in a style that thoughtfully blends her yoga-for-athletes training with her extensive sports science education.
  • Kirsten Horning, M.Ed., Retreat Leader
Kirsten has a Masters in Educational Leadership and Human Resources and worked for Outward Bound as an instructor and course director for six years. As a retreat leader, she merges those technical skills with a sincere love of running for its simplicity, the connections it fosters and the ways it helps people grow.
