Meet Our Ambassadors

Years Running: 5 years
I started training and ran a half marathon 2 months later ran a marathon. I stumbled upon trail running shortly thereafter and once I found trail running I never looked back! Trail running grounds me and allows me to commune with myself and nature. It’s the time I spend with myself and my friends. Since started running 5 years ago I have done two marathons, seven 50ks and 47 half marathons all on the trail. Running is my life, it helps me connect to my breath which is so important to me. Trail running is my church! It is where I go to find my joy; my joy of life and joy for others.

I love running for not only the physical aspects but the mental and social benefits. My love of travel and running combined is why I want to be an ambassador. Give back to something that has given me so much. Running helps me deal with stress and allow me to clear my head. It also brings me a lot of joy. I have meet some wonderful people through running and some have become great friends. Most of my running is done on the road but getting a dog last year I start doing some trail running.
Lives In: Denver, CO
Running is a huge part of my life. I am a running coach and helping my athletes achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I have traveled for races and running adventures in 2018, as I do most years. I have run races from 5k’s to ultramarathons to week long running trips. I love to share my passion for running with others.
Lives In: Durham, NC
Years Running: 20 years
There have been seasons of my life when I have been faster and seasons of my life when I have been slower – and through it all, I clearly remember the time when I couldn’t run for more than 5 minutes at a time without stopping. Now in my 40s, running is my peace, my alone time, my connection with my body & breath. Through Mindful Type A Wellness & Leadership I help high impact (and often high strung!) leaders cultivate more focus, resilience, and joy by integrating contemplative practices and healthy habits into the lives and work.

Years Running: Since age 11
A native and current resident of Ohiopyle, Pa., I have been trail running along the hills of the beautiful Youghiogheny River since I was 11 years old. Running is a source of polarities: peace, quiet and reflection, and at the same time, a place where inspiration, courage and confidence blossom. Running through the woods satisfies my desire for adventure and solitude at the same time. I lead an all-female trail running group, the Trail Run Tribe, volunteer coach high school track and field and cross country teams, teach several yoga classes a week and write about running and wellness on my blog, Inhale Exhale Run. Yet, most of the hours in each day are spent raising my two sons, Avie, five, and Grey, one.

I am not a trainer, or a coach, or an elite athlete. I am an average Jane taking on peri-menopause and all that goes with it. I love what you stand for: women, mindful running, adventure, knowledge and support. I’m an average slow runner but I absolutely love the freedom and liberation that running affords. After breaking my ankle back in June and going through 6 months worth of injury frustration, I am seriously looking forward to the soulfullness of what I am expecting in the Run Wild Retreats. I believe it will be my Magic Pill in my recovery process, paving the way for longevity in my running. I am also a huge advocate for fitness support; encouragement, group motivation, one-on-one motivation, building self-confidence and strength in others. I am the creator and moderator of The Hurt Club (a monthly fitness challenge group), as well as multiple obstacle course racer groups and running groups.

I believe that wellness is about taking the things that move you–your feet, your desire to travel, a way to connect–and making it your own journey. My running journey began after a major weight loss 15 years ago and I have gone back to running after surgeries from injuries and changing health conditions. I can offer a relatable perspective of how running can be for anyone. I love to travel and one of my traits that my friends admire is my willingness to do something independently when I can’t necessarily find someone to join me. I want to share that with other women and encourage them to fully experience life. I truly believe running doesn’t have to be a chore or even a race.

I want people to experience the high you get from running the empowerment it brings to your soul and that running truly makes me believe that we, fragile human beings, can face and rise above any challenges life throws at us through running. Running as been my soul companion and I want to share this experience with other runners. After loosing my husband at the age of 50 from cancer I turned to running to face my grief. Running has helped me go live my emotions, face my fears and plan my new life without him. This is still a work in progress but I truly believe that finding myself on a path with just my thoughts, as changed my life.

I became an Ambassador because Run Wild Retreats’s core values of connection, resilience, self-compassion and mindfulness align with my beliefs. Running has been a significant part of my life for the last five years after becoming hooked after racing my first 5k. Last year, after reaching my goal of losing 65 pounds, I ran over 900 miles and competed in my first 50k. I’m currently training for the NYC Marathon, my first! Running is not about speed or distance, but about the supportive and helpful communities that are formed. Running is critical for my well-being because my tendency is to be task driven and technology focused. Connecting with nature when trail running allows me to relax, observe my surroundings and brings me great joy! My running continues to strengthen me physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I became an Ambassador because I would love the opportunity to travel with other women who enjoy running and exploring as much as I do. I also love the fact that Run Wild Retreats focuses on mindfulness and you understand that running isn’t just about speed or distance. There’s so much more to the experience, and that’s what I want to share with others who are just beginning their running journeys. I am an RRCA-certified race director, and I help to organize some of the premier events in Ohio. I’ve been running off and on for more than 10 years, and since I also started working for Dave’s Running, my love of running has grown. I love our local running community!

Run Wild Retreats + Wellness provides an interesting mix of running and traveling (both my favorites!). Plus, I believe that sharing anything positive to my women’s running group/community is always a good thing. I wanted to be an ambassador because running is the center of most activities . I’m either training for a race, recovering from a race, planning my next race, coaching middle school cross country, admin to the biggest (and best) women’s running group in the PNW-PNW Ladies Running Group.
