Sonoran Desert Trail Running + Wellness Retreat

Stress Resilience Strategies for Women Leaders

Serene Desert Beauty | Guided Mindful Running | Restorative Yoga | Luxury Resort | Spa | Mindful Leadership

Immerse yourself in a unique landscape for the four-day, three night, all-inclusive Sonoran Desert Trail Running Retreat designed just for women leaders who love to run as part of their self-care and stress management. Master the art of stress resilience through mindful running as taught by Charlotte Roennau, MSc., a former professional athlete whose life work is to help high performers of all types employ mindful breath and movement in their daily lives. Combining her expertise in sports science with yoga and mindfulness, Charlotte will lead you through a series of on-trail exercises that make the practice of mindful running tangible and immediately applicable to your running style.

You’ll come home from this retreat equipped with a simple yet powerful set of practices you can incorporate into your running and mindfulness practices to better manage stress and avoid burnout as you pursue your goals, athletics, professional, artistic or personal.

From the moment you arrive at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, you’ll feel yourself start to unwind and be present. The Starr Pass Resort’s luxury accommodations are inspired by nature and designed to promote relaxation and restoration, making it the ideal base for this retreat.

We’ve selected trails that best showcase the Sonoran Desert’s impeccable beauty, rewarding singletrack trails and unique features, such as giant saguaro cacti. You’ll cruise along soft, sandy trails that meander through gently rolling hills. While it’s not necessary to have trail running experience to participate in this retreat, you should be able to comfortably run at least 8 or so miles on the road and feel comfortable on ground that is uneven, at times rocky. The time on trail ranges from about one to 3 hours, including photo stops, water breaks and such. The pace is relaxed and social, so you don’t have to be fast!

This small group experience is limited to just 15 women and will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

Happy, Refreshed, Motivated and Inspired

“Running in the desert was everything I hoped it would be! At the beginning of the year, it felt like a big deal to sign up for something as extravagent as a running retreat just for myself, but oh how I needed it! Pandemic running hasn’t been easy. My motivation has suffered and I hadn’t been sure of my goals (…).

Who knew it would take 4 days on desert trails, with a group of (no longer) strangers, running mindfully without a watch, at a free and easy pace to light up that fire to train and race again?! Whether it was the desert scenery, the quiet time, the incredible women I met or just the experience of getting away, I am heading home today so happy, refreshed, motivated and inspired.”

Refreshed and Inspired

I loved my experience running in Arizona! It felt like such luxury booking a running retreat for myself, but I’m so glad I did. I met a group of incredible women from all over the country, loved the 22 miles of trails that we shared, and came home feeling refreshed and inspired about my running again. Our retreat leader made sure to include everyone and was available for all our questions – she was encouraging, calm, and kind. The trails were amazing, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect for this type of retreat. I went on this trip on my own, but I now have new running friends across the country!

More Confident as a Runner

I went on the Sonoran Desert Retreat and it was so much more than I could have hoped for. Communication leading up to the retreat was clear and helpful. I was a little nervous about going, since I have limited trail running experience, but when I arrived I immediately felt comfortable. Our safety and wellbeing, especially concerning COVID precautions was a high priority, and I appreciated that. Overall, this was an awesome experience and I came away feeling more confident as a runner and with so much gratitude for everyone involved. I am excited for other retreats!
